The Lady Jaguars from Maynard Jackson found the road on the state tournament very rough as they met the defending state champion Lady Wolves on their home turf of the Buford City Arena on Wednesday night.  The Lady Jaguars came out confident in the first few minutes of the game, but the Lady Wolves would have none of it as they turned up their relentless defense on the visitors to take a 18-12 lead after the first quarter of play.  From there, it was all down hill for Jackson as the Lady Wolves forced turnover after turnover and converted easy transition points to take a halftime lead of 44 to 16.  The third quarter was no better for the visitors as the lead continued to grow to 63 to 25.  The fourth quarter saw many younger Lady Wolves get much needed state tournament experience to close out the 2nd round of the 5A state tournament playoff game.  When the final buzzer sounded, the Lady Wolves cruised to a 75 to 40 win and advanced to the Elite Eight of the third round of games.

Tory Ozment had a stellar game scoring 25 points to lead the Lady Wolves and Tate Walters added another double figure scorer with 11 points.  Seniors Audrey Weiner added 7 points, while  Mary Walters and Sierra Sieracki each added 6 points to the winning score.

The Lady Wolves will now face another #1 seed in Eagles Landing in the next round of the 5A state tournament.  Due to both teams being #1 seeds, a universal coin toss will determine if the Lady Wolves will play back in the comforts of the Buford City Arena or take to the road to play in hostile territory.  The time and date of the game will also be determined in the next couple of days.

We will let you know all the details as soon as we can.  Until then, way to go ladies and let's continue to defend our title of state champions and let all the teams know that the road to a state championship must run through the Buford Lady Wolves!!!

GOOOOOOOO WOLVES!!!!!
