After dropping two tough games last week, the Wolves rebounded with a gritty, 5-2 win over highly ranked Archer on the road Monday evening.
Both teams got off to a fast start, as the Wolves and Tigers each scored a run in the first, but then things settled into a pitching duel for the next several innings.
Anabel Adams blasted a long HR to put the Wolves up 2-1 in the third, and the Tigers responded with 1 of their own to tie the game again, at 2 through 4.
Neither team could manage a threat in the 5th and 6th as both teams seemed in control.
The 7th inning saw the Wolves score 3 times, to take a 5-2 lead they would not lose.
For the Wolves, Ansleigh Hollifield combined with Amelia Veal to strikeout 12, allow only 4 hits and pick up the win.
Anabel Adams had a HR while Taylor Malvin went 3-3 on the night to lead the Wolves offense. Ansleigh Hollifield had an RBI single in the 7th and Emmy Hall doubled home another, as the Wolves moved to 8-4 on the year, while Archer fell to 7-2.
The teams will meet again Wednesday at Buford at 6 pm.
