Solid start to Season at North Georgia Invitational

Saturday, August 24th      Buford XC kicked off its season on Saturday morning at the North Georgia Invitational at Lamar Murphy Park in Jefferson, GA.  A partly cloudy morning brought some reprieve from the heat, but there was no escaping the humidity, and runners in the later races certainly felt the effects.

Girls Varsity: senior Jordan Sullivan led the charge coming in 22nd with a time of 21:57.  Sophomore Carolyn Calzada (22:19), freshman Hayden Bailey (24:04), junior Mikayla Frierson (24:57), and freshman Abby Wood (25:34) all contributed points for a 10th place finish among 17 teams. We are very excited about the promise of this young team and what we will see from them this season and beyond.

Boys Varsity: The boys team displayed some strong pack running that led them to a 15th place finish among a very competitive field of 24 teams. Senior Ben Archer crossed the line at 18:33 followed closely by junior Zach Davidson at 18:36. Freshman Carter Hales (18:59), freshman Joseph Davis (19:32), and senior Ked Crossett (19:38) also had noteworthy performances.

JV Girls: JV Girls placed 7th out of 9 teams. Scorers included: junior Ashley Eades (27:42), sophomore Ansley Brand (29:14), junior Miriam Lowery (29:51), sophomore Alyssa Lovern (30:06), junior Leslie Jaimes (30:33)

JV Boys: JV Boys placed 10th out of 15 teams. Scorers included: senior Sam Warren (21:17), junior Patrick Grey (21:28), freshman Ray Choi (23:14), junior Jacob Phillips (23:14), and freshman Joshua Thomas (23:24)

The team runs next at the North Hall Invitational on September 5th.
