Alexander/Asics Invitational   Winder , Ga

Saturday, September 30th    The sun came up and so did the temperature at this year's Alexander/Asics Invitational in Fairburn, GA.  Unfortunately, the warm temperatures prevented our hopeful PRs on a course known for being fast. 

Boys Varsity: Our Varsity boys placed 5th among 35 teams.  Junior James Hales (16:58) set a PR and had a top 25 finish.  Seniors Jesus Miranda (17:36), Luciano Lira (17:39) and Noah Matthes (17:49) also set PRs under 18:00.  Freshmen Zach LaForce (18:18) and Matthew Crabbe (18:23) set PRs under 18:30 and Alexander Zachman (18:24) made sure all 7 runners finished in the top 100.

Girls Varsity: Our Varsity boys placed 6th among 30 teams.  Freshmen Jaelyn Ozkan (21:35), Deyabdi Rendon (21:36), Emma Webb (21:56), Jasmine Jones (22:03) led the charge finishing in the top 50.  Junior Addison Steinbrecher (22:15) and Freshman Taylor Morrison (22:49) finished in the top 100.  Seniors Cam Perry (23:44) and Cassandra Mayo (24:09) also ran well in the varsity race. 

Boys JV: Our JV boys finished 5th out of 23 teams and nearly 400 runners.  Jose Mayorga (18:38) broke 19:00 for the first time leading the team.  Fellow Sophomores Eli Matthes (18:57) and Chris Alcott (19:11) finished in the top 25.  Az Baza (19:38), Connor Thomson (19:39) and AJ Frierson (19:59) also broke 20:00 on the day. 

Girls JV: Our JV girls finished 4th out of 15 teams and nearly 200 runners.  Seniors Emily Nava (24:38) and Emmie Adams (24:56) led the team with top 15 finishes.  Juniors Daniela Plata (25:19) and Emory Curry (25:35) came in next and  finished in the top 25.  Senior Caitlyn Crews (25:52) and Freshman Kayla Davis (25:56) finished in the top 35.

The Buford Wolves XC Team will race next at the Kent Kramer Classic in Athens, GA on October 12th.
