Buford softball team secures fourth consecutive win in new season

The Buford High School softball team has opened the 2023 season on a winning streak, securing a fourth victory in as many games in a matchup against Walnut Grover on Monday, Aug. 14.

Scoring 12 runs to the Warriors’ 2, the Wolves played five innings dominating at the plate.

Standout playmakers 

• Senior Madison Pickens went 2-for-3 with a three-run, walk-off home run, a double, four RBIs, two runs scored and one stolen base
• Senior Adriana Martinez went 2-for-3 with two home runs, three RBIs and two runs scored
• Senior Mackenzie Pickens went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run — her fourth of the season — three RBIs and two runs scored
• Senior Tavye Borders went 2-for-2 with an RBI, two runs scored and three stolen bases
• Senior Emma Grace Williams earned her second win of the season, allowing just three hits and one walk and striking out six batters in five innings

Up next for Buford, the Wolves will host the Apalachee Wildcats at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16, at the Buford Softball Complex.
