Buford pitchers shut out Mill Creek for the second straight game

HOSCHTON — Buford pitchers shut out Mill Creek for the second straight game Thursday as the Wolves posted an 8-0 victory in Region 8-AAAAAAA baseball.

The win capped a three-game sweep of the series between the rivals.

Kyle Krause (2-1) was the winning pitcher, going four shutout innings and allowing just one hit. The sophomore struck out three and walked two.

Damian Brown followed with three scoreless innings of relief for his second save of the series. He struck out four, walked one and gave up two hits.

Buford (12-4, 6-0 region) was led offensively by Blake Russell (3-for-4, double, RBI, two runs, stolen base), Ethan Murray (2-for-3, home run, two RBIs, three runs, stolen base), Nate Taylor (2-for-4, RBI, run) and Brayden Bickers (2-for-3).

Mill Creek, which used five pitchers, got its hits from Nick Bennett, Ethan Ratliff and Hunter Parlapiano. Daniel Pierce walked twice in three plate appearances for the Hawks.
