Buford Baseball Ties Mount Paran in Truist Park Matchup

Buford’s baseball team tied Mount Paran 3-3 Saturday in a game played at Truist Park, home of the Atlanta Braves.

ATLANTA — Buford’s baseball team tied Mount Paran 3-3 Saturday in a game played at Truist Park, home of the Atlanta Braves.

Down 2-0 in the bottom of the sixth inning, Buford tied the score on an RBI bunt from Nate Taylor that scored Ayden Lockett and a sacrifice fly from Blake Russell that scored Madden Young.

Mount Paran scored once in the top of the seventh inning before Buford tied the score at 3-3 in the bottom half on a rally that saw Lockett get hit by a pitch and Sam Humphrey draw a walk to load the bases with two outs. Ian Chafin following with a single to score the tying run, but Lockett was thrown out at home plate to end the inning and the game, since the designated time limit had expired.

Taylor (2-for-3, RBI), Chafin (1-for-1, RBI), Russell (sacrifice fly, RBI) and Young (1-for-2, run) led the hitters for Buford (17-7-1).

Seven different Buford pitchers pitched one inning each, combining to give up only four hits and two earned runs.
