With a 2-1, walk-off win, the Wolves captured the 2016 AAAAA State Championship Saturday in Columbus.  The Wolves went 4-0 in Columbus for the 5th consecutive year in route to the title.  Logan Caymol picked up the win with 7 great innings of work in the circle.  Katie Perkins provided the clutch, game winning, walk off hit when she singled to center to score Gabby Benson.  Buford finishes the season with a 32-2 record and defeated the State Runner-up Walnut Grove Warriors 5 out of 6 times this year.  The remarkable season extends the Wolves streak of state titles to 10 dating back to the first title in 2007.  The Wolves have captured 5 AA titles, 2 AAA titles, 2 AAAA titles and now 1 AAAAA title.   The Wolves also extended their Columbus winning streak to 23 games dating back to 2011.
