Green beats Gold 4-1 in a friendly scrimmage

As a comfortable, sunny afternoon turned into a chilly evening, the Lady Wolves took to the field for the first time this season to showcase their skills in a friendly Green vs. Gold competition.  Family and friends gathered to cheer on their favorite players, and as the game progressed one thing was clear to everyone: this season, the players will be hungry for redemption.

"We lost some very good players during the off-season, but that is typical for every high school program", said the head coach, Andrew Eager, after the game.  "The girls are very competitive , and that competitiveness drives players to be the best they can be every time they take the field."

The green team, led by coach Varini, defeated coach Jaunais' gold team 4-1 thanks to a hat trick by Arden Paulino and a goal by Heidi Orr.  Sydney Borgelt got the lone goal for the gold team.  "The result is not what matters; what is important is that the girls had fun, that we bonded as a team, and that the people who came out had a great time", coach Eager said.

The Green vs. Gold game was the only time fans could catch a glimpse of the team at home before the season begins.  On Saturday, February 3rd, the Lady Wolves will travel to The Westminster Schools and scrimmage against the reigning AAA state champions.  The following Tuesday will be the first official game of the season, as the team will travel to North Gwinnett High School and play against a highly ranked AAAAAAA opponent.  The first home game for the Lady Wolves will be against North Hall on Friday, February 9th.
