Softball Wolves sweeps Woodland, Cartersville

Buford softball used and offensive explosion in game 1 and clutch and timely hitting in game 2 to sweep Woodland, Cartersville and advance to the Elite 8 in Columbus.  

Playing on the road in the state playoffs for the first time in the Softball Wolves history, Buford jumped at the chance to make history and overwhelmed the host Wildcats 13-1 and 6-3.  

Mariah Wicker hit the second pitch of the game over the centerfield fence,  to start the offensive explosion in game 1.  The Wolves would score 2, 5, 5, 1 in their 4 offensive innings.  Ansleigh Hollifield fired 4 innings of 2 hit ball to earn the shutout in game 1.

In game 2, the Wolves saw a 2-1 lead disappear in the 5th inning, falling behind 3-2 momentarily, before rallying to score 3 in the bottom of the 5th and 1 in the 6th, to win 6-3.  Kaitlyn Pickens worked the first 5 innings in the circle to pick up the game 2 win, with Hollifield earning the save with 2 scoreless innings of relief.

Game 2:  Hannah Morgan 2-4 2 RBI,  Anabel Adams 2-4, Katie Perkins 2-4.
