The Lady Wolves picked up two wins this past weekend to close out the first part of the basketball season with a stellar 10-1 record going into the holiday break.  The 10 wins are over some very good competition with 7 of those wins over state ranked opponents in various classifications.  The only blemish on their record is a very physical loss to state ranked Norcross and that game could have went either way in the finishing moments.  Great job ladies on this success in the first part of your season.

First up,  the Lady Wolves took on Banks County this past Friday night at the Buford City Arena.  It was a special occasion as we welcomed back many former players of the program in a 10 year reunion of the Lady Wolves first state championship team.  The Lady Wolves did not disappoint the  Lady  Wolves of the past as they blasted the visitors from Banks from the tip.  The score was a 20 point lead at  half time  and when the final buzzer sounded, all the Lady Wolves on the varsity roster played a part in a 63 to 33 win over the Lady Leopards.

Tate Walters lead the scoring with 17 and Sara Viti had a hot shooting night hitting four 3 point field goals in contributing another 12 points in the winning cause.

On Saturday, the Lady Wolves traveled to battle the Lady Tigers of Archer.  The Lady Wolves started the game off very sluggish and after a back and forth contest, pulled off a 39 to 20 victory over the home team.  It was not very good offensive night for the ladies in Kelly and Gold as they struggle to find a scoring touch from anyone. But as they always do, the relentless full court and half court defense kept the Lady Tigers from pulling out a victory over the visitors from Buford.

A stellar fourth quarter shooting free throws sealed the victory for Buford as they shot 12 for 14 from the charity stripe.  Ashyia Willis lead this performance as she went a perfect 6 for 6 from the free throw line in the quarter.

No Lady Wolf broke double digits, but all contributed in the defensive effort to get this win.

Way to finish the holiday break weekend with two victories and have momentum coming back into the new year!

Way to go ladies and GOOOOOO WOLVES!!!
