The Lady Wolves had another successful weekend of basketball as they picked up another region win vs Cedar Shoals on Friday night to keep their #1 ranking in the region.  The Lady Wolves won the game by the score of 64 to 41.  Blair Wallis lead all scorers with 16 points, followed by Tate Walters with 13.  This keeps their region record a sterling 8-0.

Saturday brought in the annual showdown with the other Lady Wolves from Wesleyan.  This is always a great game that gives each program bragging rights for the whole year and this game did not disappoint.  The Lady Wolves started off hot and lead the visitors from Norcross by 12 at the end of the 1st quarter.  The visitors chipped away at the lead in the 2nd quarter and Buford only lead by 5 at the half. The Lady Wolves were missing two starters due to flu and foul trouble in the first half only lead to more adversity for the ladies in Kelly and Gold.  The 3rd quarter saw nothing but a battle of the two top ranked programs go back and forth making great offensive and defensive plays by both teams.  At the end of the 3rd, the Lady Wolves still held a 3 point advantage on the score board.  The 4th quarter started and again both teams traded baskets and no team could take a lead to give any comfort to either team.  At the 1 minute mark left in the game, Wesleyan tied the game at 52 all.  Buford then brought the ball down the court and ran the clock down to the 10 sec mark and then executed a perfect backdoor play to give Preston Reid an open look for a layup.  The layup missed its mark, but Sara Viti was there to clean up the back side rebound and put the ball back in for the winning points with 2.1 secs left on the clock.  Wesleyan then made a desperation heave, but the shot was wide and bragging rights came back to B Town for one more year.  It was a great game between two top ranked program that will prepare both teams for the tournaments in the upcoming weeks.
