The Wolves let game 1 of the day slip away, as Jones County hit a 6th inning grand slam to take a 5-3 win over our Wolves. Ansleigh Hollifield was the tough luck loser, allowing only 2 earned runs on 2 hits, and striking out 11. Emmy Hall and Abbi Perkins had RBI hits to lead the Wolves, who managed only 3 hits.
In game 2, the Wolves defeated Carrolton 2-0 in the losers bracket, behind Ansleigh Hollifield's 2 hit shutout. Emma Castorri's squeeze bunt scored the Wolves first run (Taylor Malvin's double started the inning) and Abbi Perkins drove home another with a single.
The Wolves are now in the Final 4 for the 15th consecutive year, and the 16th time in 18 fastpitch seasons. Buford will have a rematch with Harris County Saturday morning at 10 am. Buford defeated Harris 1-0 in game 1 on Thursday.
Ansleigh Hollifield fired a 7 inning perfect game in game 1, with 16 K's and a home run to lead the Wolves to a 5-0 win in game 1 of their doubleheader with Ola. In game 2, Hollifield struck out 6 in 3.1 innings, and hit 2 more home runs to lead the Wolves to a 11-0, 5 inning victory and send the Wolves to the Elite 8 in Columbus next week. Hollifield pitched 10.1 innings, struck out 22, and allowed just 2 hits on the day, while going 6-6 with 3 home runs and 1 double.
Anabel Adams went 4-6 with 2 home runs and 6 RBIs. Abbi Perkins went 3-6 with 2 doubles, 1 RBI and 1 stolen base.
The Wolves (22-9) have won 11 straight and are advancing to Columbus and the Elite 8 for the 15th consecutive year.
