Buford beats Loganville, 30-7

By Buford Athletics 10/19/2019, 9:15am EDT

The 2020 Buford Wolves Senior band members, cheerleaders, football managers, and football players were celebrated Friday night as the Wolves (8-0) took on the Loganville Red Devils (2-6) on a beautiful fall night at Tom Riden Stadium. The fans were also treated to a 30-7 Buford victory keeping the Wolves on top of the region standings going into the last two games of the regular season.

The name of the game on Senior Night was “ground and pound”. There wasn’t much the Loganville Red Devils defense could do with Senior tailback Elijah Turner and Junior tailback Gabe Ervin who combined for an incredible 322 rushing yards on the night. After a 13-0 start and taking that same lead into the half, the Wolves offense stalled a little while the Red Devils tried to seize some momentum. Loganville would score on a 67-yard passing play late in the 3rd quarter bringing the score to 13-7. The Wolves would respond, however, with 17 unanswered points including a 44-yard field goal from Hayden Olsen and two Gabe Ervin rushing touchdowns.

The defense held strong all night only giving up the one touchdown to the Red Devils despite numerous 4th down conversion attempts. Senior Daniel Benitez snagged an interception, and the Wolves would get sacks from Jackson Powell, Matthew Alexander, and Malik Spencer.

The Wolves will host Walnut Grove Friday, October 25th at 7:30 pm. This will be the last regular season home game so please come out and support your undefeated 2019 Buford Wolves!
