Buford XC sees success while previewing Region Course

Saturday, September 12th          Buford XC met the cloudy, misty rain conditions of Saturday morning with welcome arms at the Winder-Barrow Invite. The course will host the region meet next month, so this race was a great opportunity for the Wolves to see and assess the lay of the land. Both Varsity teams saw success - each coming in third place behind strong programs. The JV teams both took 1st place - with our JV Boys enjoying an exciting finish with a  perfect score.

Boys Varsity:  The boys competed well and enjoyed a 3rd place finish behind Winder Barrow and Lakeside, Evans. Sophomore Carter Hales ran a strong and steady race crossing the line at 18:35 followed closely by Senior James Morgan (18:41) and Senior Zach Davidson (18:44). Strong performances by Sophomore Garrett Posey (19:12) and Freshman Noah Mathes (19:22) finished out the contributing points for the team score. This team has depth and loves to pack run, making them an entertaining and exciting team to watch.

Girls Varsity:  Senior Caroline Montini led the charge for the Varsity girls coming in 4th with a time of 22:39.  Junior Madeline Matos (24:39), Sophomore Hayden Bailey (25:22), Senior MaKenzie Curry (25:27), and Freshman Cameron Perry (25:50) all contributed points for a 3rd place team finish behind Lakeside, Evans and Walnut Grove. This girls’ team continues to look stronger each week and we are excited to watch their progress throughout this season.

JV Boys:  JV Boys were the stars of the morning coming across the line with the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th place finishes in their race - a perfect score. Sophomore Noah Johnson (19:51) dominated the race followed by  Freshman  Ben Beardsley (20:09), Freshman Ben Webb (20:11), Junior Nathan Montini (20:22), and Senior Patrick Grey (20:25).

JV Girls:  JV Girls represented Buford well this morning with a 1st place win. Newcomers to the team, Seniors Callie and Caroline Snell (23:00, 23:01), showed up big with a sizable lead and a 1st and 2nd place finish. Freshman Caitlyn Crews (26:36) ran a strong race and came in 4th overall. Freshman Emily Di Maggio (29:46) and Ava Hatzilias (30:19) contributed points for the team as well.
