Atlanta Classic    Clinton Farms, Douglass County 

Friday, October 9th, 2020   The Atlanta Classic is a cross country favorite and draws many competitive teams from all over metro-Atlanta, and this year was no exception. Despite the rainy conditions, many of our athletes enjoyed PR’s and season best times on the trails at Clinton Farms.  Both varsity teams came away with top 5 finishes, and our JV boys walked away with a 3rd place finish out of 18 teams! We are very excited about the progress seen in these teams as we head toward the region meet in two weeks. 

Girls Varsity: Senior sisters Caroline Snell (21:23) and Callie Snell (21:36) enjoyed a top ten finish in a field of ninety-three runners, followed by Caroline Montini (22:21), Junior Madeline Matos (24:03), and Freshman Cameron Perry (24:26). Sisters Caitlyn Crews (25:29) and Kelsey Crews (26:35) also represented the Buford Girls team in the Varsity race. The girls team finished 5th out of 12 teams. 

Boys Varsity: Sophomore Carter Hales (18:05) led the Boys Varsity team followed closely by Senior James Morgan (18:13). Sophomore Garrett Posey (18:36), Senior Zach Davidson (18:43), and Freshman Noah Matthes (18:44) rounded out the score. Sophomore Noah Johnson (18:45) and Freshman Ben Webb (18:47) also represented Buford in the Varsity boys race. The boys finished 4th out of 11 teams, narrowly beating region competition Lanier by four points. 

Girls JV: Sophomore Hayden Bailey led the Buford Girls JV team with a 24:47 finish. Senior Ashley Eades (26:22) , Sophomore Ashley Morales (26:55) , Freshman Emmie Adams (28:09), Senior Miriam Lowery (28:15) contributed points for the team as well.

Boys JV: The Buford JV boys finished an impressive 3rd out of 18 teams. Sophomores Joseph Davis (19:13) and Braden Schmid (19:26)  led the effort, followed by Sophomore Brice Reynolds (19:40) and Senior  Patrick Grey (19:54).  Freshman Jesus Miranda (20:05) finished out the team score. 

The Buford XC team will compete on October 24th  in Winder for the 8-AAAAAA Region Meet.
