Gwinnett County Championships, Conyers GA
Saturday, September 16th Always a competitive meet, with powerhouse programs like Mill Creek, Brookwood, North Gwinnett, and Parkview, the front-runners are both fast and fun to watch. With over 1400 county athletes participating, our Buford XC runners stepped up to the challenge and ran against some of the fastest runners in this state.
Girls Varsity: Girls Varsity placed 6th out of 17 teams and saw stand out performances from some of our freshmen. Jaelyn Ozkan (22:24), Emma Webb (22:31) and Taylor Morrison (22:52) led the team on this dreary day with Junior Addison Steinbrecher (22:56) and Deyabdi Rendon (23:00) right on their heals.
Boys Varsity: The boys team took a 9th place finish among a very competitive field of 23 teams. James Hales had a top 25 finish (17:35). Junior Alexander Zachman (18:30) ran a strong race with Jesus Miranda (18:31). Freshman Zach LaForce (18:39) set a PR followed by Noah Matthes (18:53) and Chris Alcott (19:12).
JV Girls: The JV Girls finished 4th out of 13 teams. Scoring for the wolves: Senior Emily Nava (25:16), Junior Daniela Plata (25:57) Junior Emory Curry (26:43), Freshman Kayla Davis (26:47) and Freshman Kaitlyn Harper (26:57).
JV Boys: The JV Boys finished 4th out of 16 teams. Scoring for the wolves: Sophomore Connor Thomson (20:03), Junior Az Baza (20:08) Senior Jhoany Rendon (20:16), Junior Ben Davis (20:18) and Senior Noah McClure (20:27).
The Buford Wolves XC Team will race next at the Alexander/Asics Invitational on September 30th.
