Lady Wolves Compete in State Championship!!!

Carrollton GA. – The Buford High School Girls’ Cross Country team recently closed out the 2016 season with a 14th place finish at the GHSA Cross Country State Championship in Carrollton, Georgia.  After placing third at the Region 8AAAAA Championship, the Lady Wolves became one of just 32 teams across Georgia that qualified for the State meet.

While the warm, dry, and dusty conditions were a bit unusual for this late in the season, the crowds and championship atmosphere did not disappoint.  As she has all season, Sarah Davis (junior) led the Lady Wolves in 21st place with a time of 21:28. Finishing not far behind Davis was junior, Gabby Thacker and senior, Erin Marsh.  Yaneli Torres and Heidi Hyatt rounded out the top-five scorers, while Tatum DeGoey and Yuritzi Cruz Torres both ran solid races to finish off the season strong.

With the majority of the team returning for next year, the future looks bright for the BHS Girls’ Cross Country program. The Lady Wolves will look to use the momentum gained throughout the 2016 season to give them a running start heading into 2017.
